| This small gallery contains pictures of some of the Fire Engines currently in use by the Lancashire County Fire & Rescue Service, and will hopefully grow a little in the coming years. The vehicles shown here were all taken from October 2007 onwards.
The first two shots show one of the Blackpool tenders, the rest were taken during a fire at a local joinery firm in Whitworth, Rossendale and involved pumps from Bacup, Rawtenstall and Burnley. This incident happened on the 25th of February 2008. One pleasant surprise on the 25th of May 2008 was seeing the Hydrant Maintenance vehicle in the yard at Rawtenstall Fire Station. I'd never seen this around before, lucky I had my camera with me. On Saturday 26th of July several fire tenders were noted attending the scene of an accident in Rawtenstall, which involved assisting a man trapped underneath his van. On the 28th of June 2009, an interesting vehicle was noted in the yard at Rawtenstall Fire Station, and this, from what I have been able to gather, is likely to be a unit from the Environmental Protection Unit at Burnley. They seemed to be doing some sort of training routine, and when first observed the rear container on the unit had been lowered and the various items it contained were being checked or demonstrated, later the vehicle was noted with the container now back on the chassis, and the vehicle was just parked in the yard. I have included photographs of it in both formats on this page. |
